Strengthening professional learning communities and creating new venues to advance the quality of pre-school education

Goal: The proposed intervention aims to build on the Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Program, developed and rolled-out by UNICEF in all active public preschools in the country, to ensure its sustainability beyond the project duration by using a two-fold approach: 1) building on the established network of peer support teachers, to create self-sustaining professional learning communities linked to the wider teacher career development system; 2) Enhancing interactive practice and Social and Emotional learning in classrooms and at home, by showcasing best practices and resources for practitioners and teachers, through community events and a regional conference.

Expected results:
• Establishment of professional learning communities, with 180 PLC leaders trained;
• An 8-part module on Professional learning Communities developed;
• Enhanced interactive practice and Social and Emotional learning in classrooms and at home, with 12 Sharing and playing events organized in 12 pre-schools in North Macedonia and 250 participants (teachers and parents) included in the Sharing and playing events, and one webinar for SEL;
• Organized one Large-Scale Regional Conference on SEL.
