At the beginning of March, as part of the USAID Youth Ethnic Integration Project, the cycle of 9 youth debates entitled Youth Talks started, organized in cooperation with the Youth Educational Forum.
Under the motto, “The Integrated Youth Act Locally“, the first debate was held on 6 March 2018 in the “Pero Nakov” secondary school in Kumanovo. During the debate, more than 50 participants from five schools of the municipality discussed how they could jointly identify, but also overcome the challenges they face in their community.
“So far, I have not participated in events where I can publicly discuss my views on important youth issues. This debate has inspired me to think how I can personally contribute to a better integration in my community“, said one of the participants. The students also highlighted that these kind of events are a great step towards joint initiatives through which they could contribute to a better youth participation in the community.
In the forthcoming period, they will meet the mayor of the municipality of Kumanovo and share the key recommendations which have arisen from the discussion. Eight additional youth debates will be organized in the pilot municipalities of the project under the USAID Youth Ethnic Integration Proejct.
