Rope games, relay games and lots of friendship and fun marked the outstanding sport event organized by the primary school “Panajot Ginovski”, Butel on a sunny October day. The positive atmosphere and the euphoria on the sports field could be heard from afar.

Guided by the idea that sport and fun are excellent tools for integration of the students from different ethnical backgrounds, teachers and parents teamed up to inspire and recreate more than 360 children in the school yard.

Under their guidance, the children learned all the rules very fast and they were taken by the game and fun even faster. Through the sport games, the students discovered various values in sports and in a wider context – openness, team work, communication, fair play and respecting other players.

Teachers and parents who participated in the event were eager to share their experience with representatives from the USAID Youth Ethnic Integration Project who visited the event.

I am more than happy to participate in this sport event and I wish for many more like these to come! Being a parent, I believe that it is our role and duty to be included in our children’s lives. All children have potential, but we need to motivate them and help them put that potential to use! I am really glad that all the children were joyful…I am speechless!” – noted one of the parents who participated in the event.
