Partners: Pestalozzi Children’s Foundation, Ministry of Education and Science (MoES), Directorate for promotion and development of languages in the education for the ethnic minorities (DPDLEEM), key educational institutions, 12 municipalities and 49 primary schools in Macedonia.
Target Group: Out-of-school children age 6-17
Output 1: Out of school children identified in 12 municipalities
Through field research/data collection, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science and DPDLEEM, the project is to identify out-of-school children, reasons for non-attendance and drop out as well as needs to be met in order for children to return or enroll in school. The field research findings and the recommendations for improvement are to be incorporated in a Research Report and presented to the state and local educational audience.
Output 2: Adopted curricula for returners approved by Ministry of Education and Science
In partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science and the Bureau for Development of Education (BDE), the project will support adaptation to the curricula in order to meet the needs of the returners or newly enrolled children.
Output 3: Tailored support and scholarships for returners and newly enrolled children
On the basis of the Research Report, the project will design individual support i.e. incentives for children to enroll or return to school. The designed support is to be provided to 100-150 out of school children.
– Identification of out of school children in target municipalities.
– Involvement of local and state educational institutions in the process of enrolment of out of school children.
– Drafting and presentation of Research Report including findings and recommendations for improvement and raising awareness on the issue of out of school children.
– Providing tailored support for identified out of school children and their return or enrolment in school.
