Adequate education policies – a step forward towards interethnic integration in the schools

The Ministry of Education and Science (MES), the Organization for Security and Co-operation of Europe (OSCE) and the Macedonian Civic Education Center (MCEC) continue with their joint work aimed at promoting the interethnic integration in the schools across Macedonia.

In the period from 5 to 7 December 2017, in the Izgrev Hotel in Struga, an Education Policies Creation Training was held for the members of the Working Group, at which, under the mentorship of the education expert, Prof. Slavko Gaber, PhD, they strengthened their capacities for creation of educational policies.

Under the mentorship of the Slovenian education expert, Prof. Slavko Gaber Ph.D., the attendants acquired educational policy creation skills. The trained members of the Working Group will apply the acquired skills also in the course of taking specific steps aimed at improving the interethnic cohesion in the schools throughout Macedonia.

In order to ensure a comprehensive approach that will also contribute with a continuous interethnic integration, the Working Group is comprised of representatives from the key educational institutions – the Ministry of Education and Science, the Bureau for the Development of Education, the State Education Inspectorate, the Vocational Education and Training Center and the State Examination Center.

During the forthcoming period, with the support of the USAID Youth Ethnic Integration Project and OSCE, a series of working meetings will be organized with the Working Group in order to continue exerting efforts with a view to achieving positive changes and good results.

This activity is part of the Youth Ethnic Integration Project, funded by the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
